		Note: This website is not related to any existing political party. It is maintained by Bill McGaughey, who was a candidate for U.S. Senate in the 2002 primary of Minnesota's Independence Party. The website was created in the aftermath of that election to suggest a future direction for the Independence Party or any third-party aspiring to majority-party status. It later became a bulletin board related to McGaughey's possible IP Senate candidacy in 2006 - he did not run - and now to his prospective candidacy in 2008. Three candidates including Bill McGaughey are now seeking the Independence Party endorsement for U.S. Senate. It will be decided at a convention held prior to June 30, 2008.
		New Independence Party Recent developments: On January 26, 2008, the Independence Party of Minnesota voted to affiliate with a newly created national organization called "The Independence Party of America". Frank MacKay, president of the Independence Party of New York took that initiative to bring state organizations in New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, and Minnesota, into a confederation of parties which, among other things, might support the "independent" candidacy of New York mayor Michael Bloomberg for President of the United States. On February 27, 2008, Mayor Bloomberg announced that he would not be running for President. The focus now reverts to what can be done in the state of Minnesota. (See a political fantasy.)
